We are Birgit and Jannes, the owners of B&B d'Oude Smidse (the old smithy). We met each other on the age of 18 and quickly turned out to be a perfect match. Since we both share the passion of traveling we discovered Europe together. While traveling we came across Airbnb and stayed with numerous locals during our trips. After that expeirence it was just a logical step to host guests via Airbnb and connect with people aroundthe world from home. Airbnb was a very rewarding and positive experience, thats why we've decided to start a professional Bed and Breakfast. In 2020 we bought this amazing property in Zuienkerke to start a Bed and Breakfast. We are looking forward to welcoming you together with our daughter Amber and our dog Bono. 

Monument d' Oude Smidse

d' Oude Smidse (the old smithy) is an iconic,  heritage protected farm along de Blankenbergse Steenweg in Zuienkerke (a charming town close to Bruges and the North Sea). A dilapidated farm is visible on an old map from 1690. According to the date on the old anchor plates the property was rebuilt in 1784 into a house with a corresponding smithy. On the end of the 18th or in the beginning of the 19th century 2 stables were added to both sidewalls.  The building was used as a tavern named d'Oude Smidse, between 1820 and 1956. The tavern got heritage protected in 2003 and was sold en completely remodeled in 2009 with a lot of respect for the history of the building. We bought the farm in October 2020 to give it a new life as a beautiful Bed and Breakfast.
